Remember passphrases with ssh-agent — First published in fullweb.io issue #31
Register the key with ssh-agent (optional, for single sign-on experience). Note that ssh-add must be performed from a folder that is ACL'd to you as the signed-in user (BuiltinAdministrators and the NTAUTHORITYSystem user are also ok). By default cd from PowerShell should be sufficient as shown below. Cd net start ssh-agent ssh-add idrsa. The ssh-agent is a helper program that keeps track of user's identity keys and their passphrases. The agent can then use the keys to log into other servers without having the user type in a password or passphrase again. This implements a form of single sign-on (SSO). The SSH agent is used for SSH public key authentication.

You can also directly open a new shell session spawned by ssh-agent : The SSH_AUTH_SOCK and SSH_AGENT_PID variables will already be set in the new shell session. It will spare you exporting them manually (step one and two above). |
